On Wednesday, the World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated they require more information on the severity of COVID-19 in China. He added that the information should include data from hospital and intensive care unit admissions "to make a comprehensive risk assessment of the situation on the ground."
He added that the global organization is "very concerned" about reports of increasing cases of COVID infection across China. This increase in infection cases came after the country abandoned its "zero COVID" policy. The agency warned that a lag in the vaccination can be the root cause of large numbers of vulnerable people getting infected.
